Attorney J. D. Smith

J.D. Smith is a veteran advocate for victims of catastrophic personal injuries. After ten years of having the privilege of working in some of Washington’s most prestigious law firms he started his firm. His practice focuses on plaintiff’s personal injury/wrongful death. He also provides risk management/consulting to small businesses. J.D. has become nationally recognized for his dedication in helping families who have suffered serious personal injuries.

Having completed many civil jury trials, arbitrations and presentations at legal seminars, he is well equipped to handle the most difficult of legal disputes. His experience as an insurance adjuster/underwriter and civil defense attorney uniquely qualifies him to assist injury victims. Additionally, his experience with litigation has provided with him a valuable skill-set that may help businesses identify ways to prevent legal disputes. His verdicts and settlements have been among the largest in Washington State. On July 23, he obtained a $300K jury verdict in a motorcycle injury case.

J.D. is a frequent speaker and lecturer. He is passionate about working with children and supporting local arts. J.D. is a former member of the ABA House of Delegates and a former President of the Washington State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.

He is a member of several organizations and has served on numerous boards including the King County Bar Foundation, the Loren Miller Bar Association, Minority and Justice Commission, Washington State Association of Justice (formerly Washington State Trial Lawyers Association) and the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers Association. J.D. is currently serving on the board of the northwest African American Museum. He obtained his undergraduate and law degrees from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas. During law school J.D. served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association, Chairman of the Moot Court Honors Society and as Chancellor of the Order of Barristers.
